Days seven and eight of the advent calendar were successful! We did activities for both of the days.

Day 7

On day seven I had my grandma help me color an ornament of a framed picture of Martooni, our cat. She was able to help me out a little bit on this one, but she had to strain her eyes to see the lines on the ornament, and so I took over after a while.

IMG_4992I think this is a great addition to our tree. Martooni is wearing an elf hat in this picture. I’m so glad this cat puts up with my crazy ideas, even though I don’t think he likes it so much.

 Day 8

Today we made brownie pops! I love brownies. I think I love brownies more than cupcakes. Maybe this blog should be called Shane’s Killer Brownies.

I found a Pillsbury holiday themed Brownie Pop Kit at our local Grocery Outlet for $0.99, so I couldn’t pass it up and thought it would be an easy activity to do for the advent calendar.

If you don’t have a Grocery Outlet store near you, you’re missing out. It’s a great discount grocery that has food that’s nearing its expiration date. Most of the food is pretty good, and it’s usually super cheap. I love that store. Anyway, back to the brownies.

IMG_5007I had my grandma help me roll the brownies I baked the night before into balls, then we stuck the sticks in them with some melted chocolate and put them in the fridge for about 20 minutes.

When they were done chilling, I dipped them in the chocolate and Grandma helped me decorate them with Christmas sprinkles.

IMG_5009I added Andes baking mint chocolate bits into the brownies because I like mint chocolate brownies. This complimented the brownie batter well. I’d recommend it if you like mint chocolate. And here’s the finished product:

I’m looking forward to the next couple of days in the calendar. Check back in a few days for the next installment. Have a wonderful holiday!
